It is used in administration, education, business, media etc. For the majority of the Indonesian speakers, Bahasa Indonesia is the second language, but as such it represents a uniting force for the hundreds of ethnic groups scattered across the world’s largest archipelago.
Nowadays, as the expanding of English around the world perhaps it is not difficult to find Indonesians who can speak English in particular big cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Medan etc. However, if you visit small cities in Indonesia, indeed the mastery of Bahasa Indonesia is a must! By knowing Bahasa Indonesia you will blend well with the local people. Indonesians are famous to the world as friendly people moreover to a guest.
